How I work

My design process adapts to the project—whether it’s refining components, designing features, or creating a 0-to-1 product. For components, I prioritize consistency; for features, I focus on user needs and objectives; and for 0-to-1, I start with deep research and foundational flows. Design QA is essential to ensure quality. I work closely with developers, providing detailed specs through Zeplin, Figma, or InVision and walkthroughs for complex interactions. In QA, I conduct cross-device testing for responsiveness, accessibility checks, and interactive testing to confirm expected functionality. After launch, I analyze feedback and metrics to measure success, iterating as needed. This thorough, iterative approach ensures designs meet user needs, business goals, and maintain high standards across all phases.

To prioritize user needs and business goals, I first conduct research to understand the target audience’s pain points, behaviors, and goals. I map these insights to key business objectives, identifying overlaps where user satisfaction can drive business metrics. For instance, if the goal is to increase conversions, I focus on streamlining the user journey and removing friction points that impact both user experience and revenue. I use frameworks like value vs. complexity matrices to assess which features or enhancements will deliver the most impact with minimal complexity. Throughout the design process, I conduct A/B tests and gather user feedback to ensure that each decision aligns with user needs without sacrificing business goals. This approach ensures the design delivers meaningful, measurable outcomes for both users and the business.

In UX research, I use a mix of methodologies tailored to the project’s needs, including persona development, journey mapping, and heuristic analysis. For quantitative insights, I leverage surveys, A/B testing, and multivariate testing to validate design decisions with robust data. Qualitative methods, such as user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing, help uncover user motivations and pain points. I also conduct concept validation sessions early on to ensure that new ideas resonate with target users and fit within the market. For broader projects, I assess market fit by evaluating user feedback, adoption rates, and engagement metrics, ensuring that each design aligns well with user expectations and business objectives.

I work with Figma, Canva, Rive, Adobe Premiere Pro, and AI tools to streamline design. Figma is essential for collaborative UI/UX design and handoffs, while Canva supports quick visual asset creation. Rive allows me to add interactive animations, and Premiere Pro is key for producing high-quality video assets. I also leverage AI tools like Runway ML for video edits, ChatGPT for content support, and Midjourney for visual concepts, enhancing productivity and creativity across my workflow.

I communicate design concepts through a mix of visuals, storytelling, and collaborative tools to ensure clarity and alignment. I create interactive prototypes in Figma or Rive animations to make ideas tangible, allowing stakeholders to experience the design firsthand. I accompany visuals with short presentations that explain the rationale behind design decisions, emphasizing how each choice meets user needs and business goals. For regular updates, I share designs through Slack or Loom videos, which provide clear walkthroughs for remote teams. During reviews, I encourage feedback by facilitating open discussions and addressing questions, ensuring everyone is aligned on the design’s direction. This approach keeps stakeholders engaged and allows team members to provide input, ultimately refining the design collaboratively.

In my past three roles, remote collaboration with developers and cross-functional teams was crucial. To ensure effective communication, I used Figma for shared design specs, Slack for real-time updates, and Loom videos for design walkthroughs. I also use the Jeff Bezos 6-pager method for in-depth project proposals, fostering clarity and structured feedback. For each project, I set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) to keep objectives clear and aligned with business priorities. Regular check-ins and comprehensive documentation ensured smooth handoffs and alignment across all stages.

To gather user feedback during the design process, I use a combination of usability testing, surveys, interviews, and A/B testing. For usability testing, I create interactive prototypes in Figma or Rive to observe users navigating the design, identifying any friction points. Surveys help capture quantitative insights on user preferences, while interviews provide qualitative feedback, revealing deeper motivations and pain points.

In a user testing session for the LivePerson Chat Messaging Window, feedback showed that users struggled with the chat interface’s visual hierarchy, often missing key interaction points. Observing this, I refined the design by increasing the prominence of action buttons and restructuring the message layout to improve readability and engagement. Additionally, I adjusted color contrasts and text sizes to enhance accessibility and clarity. This redesign directly addressed user frustrations identified in testing, making the interface more intuitive and ultimately increasing user satisfaction and ease of navigation.

In the LivePerson Chat Messaging Window project, a key design challenge was ensuring accessibility and clarity within a compact, multitasking interface. Users frequently missed options like quick replies or attachment buttons due to overcrowding, and there was confusion around actions taken by the AI agent. To address this, I restructured the layout to create a clear visual hierarchy, prioritizing essential actions and introducing subtle iconography with adaptive text sizing for better accessibility. Additionally, I incorporated transparent messaging cues to clarify when the AI agent was performing specific actions or assisting. This transparency helped build user trust, as they could easily distinguish between AI and human interactions, making the interface more intuitive and reliable. User testing confirmed that these changes improved clarity, accessibility, and overall user confidence in navigating the chat window.

I embrace feedback as an opportunity to refine and improve, viewing criticism as essential for creating user-centered, impactful designs.

I maintain team cohesion remotely by fostering a design-centric culture that emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and open communication. I hold regular cross-functional check-ins to align on goals and share insights. By mentoring team members and encouraging continuous learning, I create a supportive, growth-focused environment where everyone feels valued and unified in driving innovation.
